Ask the nations

The Psalmist records that God gives His Son permission to ask Him for the nations.

Ps 2:8 (NKJV)

⁸ Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.

Prayer is asking, and as representatives of Christ on earth we are called to ask for the nations, to pray that the nations will become Christ’s possession, His inheritance. The nations, right to the end of the earth, must become the possession of the Saviour. We have made it our aim to pray until this becomes reality.

House of prayer for all nations

Isaiah records God stating that His salvation will be revealed. He refers to those who joined themselves to God, He promises that they will be in covenant with the Almighty, thus even gentiles will be part of His kingdom, part of His house. Then God reveals what is house is.

Is 56:7 (NKJV)

⁷ Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

God’s house is a house of prayer for all nations. His dwelling place, His fixed abode, His permanent residents is characterized by prayer. Not just religious self-focused prayer, no prayer for all nations. Until we are not a people praying and praying for nations, we cannot be the House of God. UPF is convinced that our call needs to prioritise prayer in and for the nations of the world.

Witnesses unto the uttermost part of the earth.

In the New Testament Luke records the words of Jesus to His disciples. Jesus calls His followers to go and pray in the upper room until the Holy Spirit is poured out over them. Why did they need the Holy Spirit so that they would have power from on high to become witnesses of Christ in all the nations of the world.

Acts 1:8 (NKJV)

⁸But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

One of the first ways to bring the witness of Christ to any place in the world is through prayer. UPF has endeavored to raise up teams to go to the nations so that the witness of Christ can be brought, first in prayer unto the bringing in of the gospel to save and transform all peoples everywhere.

Our past involvement

God has graced us as an organisation in the last 25 years to send teams into many nations of the world and UPF trusts the Lord to increase the reach and capacity to impact many more regions of the globe. So far we have been able to send prayer teams into the following nations:

Belgium, Burundi, Croatia, DRC, Estonia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Kenya, Latvia, Lesotho, Lithuania, Mauritius, Moldova, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand.

We believe we are ordained by God to raise up an army that would be able and equipped to effectively pray for the nations of the world! We invite you to invest into this vision and become a part of this divine army!

Get involved

Presently we are trusting God to take up our responsibility towards the nations in two ways. The first way is to set up groups that each would take responsibility for a specific nation and start to pray together regularly for those specific nations. The second strategy is to raise up teams to go to those nations with prayer journeys in order to pray on site with locals for the challenges faced inside the nations.

Psalms 67:1-4

¹ God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us. Selah ² That Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations. ³ Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. ⁴ Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy! For You shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations on earth. Selah
